The Waterfront Development Company embarked on The Waterfront project with two primary goals: the first was to bring thousands of new jobs and living opportunities to Allentown in order to further the city’s ongoing renaissance. The second was to uncover and bring new life to one of our region’s greatest assets: the Lehigh River.
Throughout the development process The Waterfront Development Company will continue to make announcements, unveil new tenants and hold events on-site in order to bring the Lehigh Valley back to the banks of the Lehigh. Individual site visits are possible pending authorized tour guide availability (interested in seeing the site? Email us here.)
The Waterfront was designed in order to accommodate a multitude of different types of festivals and events. With a half-mile of direct river frontage with the River Walk, and another half-mile stretch of urban streetscape with Waterfront Drive (both tied together on either end with two fully programmable plazas at Allen and Furnace Streets), The Waterfront can handle a multitude of festivals, outdoor recreational opportunities, and seasonal signature events. Whether it’s a casual summer night dining on the riverside patios and listening to a live show in the amphitheater or a winter ice skating adventure in the northern plaza followed by a warm meal in one of our many restaurants: The Waterfront will become the Lehigh Valley’s newest event destination.
