Furnace Street Plaza
The Furnace Street Plaza is one of the first defining elements seen when entering The Waterfront mixed-use campus from the northern gateway to the site. The reflecting pool adjacent to 745 Waterfront Drive offers a modern sense of serenity while the sloping lawns leading down to the river’s edge grant a perfect location for outdoor recreational activities and festivals in the warmer months and holiday programming in the winter.
The Furnace Street plaza is one of two active programmable plazas on-site, both of which are linked by the signature River Walk as well as the project’s main throughway: Waterfront Drive. The River Walk, together with its intertwining garden-lined pathways, dining patios, rain gardens and two floating docks, offers perfect suburban amenities while the bustling urban promenade of Waterfront Drive lend a metropolitan feel to The Waterfront’s general ambiance.
One of the project’s two sets of floating docks are located just to the north of the Furnace Street plaza, along with a surface parking lot currently planned to accommodate a Food Truck Pod as well as a number of outdoor recreational events.
Furnace Street Plaza is scheduled to be constructed in Phase II of The Waterfront development and will open shortly after vertical construction starts on the first commercial office building north of the Tilghman Street Bridge.
